PoeMusic // Joy Division Summer

No Holidays? You’re having a

Joy Division Summer  🎶

Joy Division // Unknown Pleasures

 Joy Division what?

Are you mad ’cause it’s summer and all your friends are on vacations but you can’t come with them?

I think you should try to soak in the Post-Punk’s melancholic pleasures.

Let me explain to you why.

Here’s a Joy Division Summer Postcard tfor you, sad man. [Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division]

What’s my favorite music?

I usually answer “melancholic music”.

Well, let’s try to be clearer.

Imagine the vibrations of a deep base echoing inside of your rib cage, slow and persistent like the ticking of a clock.

All of a sudden a distorted guitar starts hypnotizing you.

Electronic sounds shoot you electric shocks.

Finally, a velvet voice whispers sad and sophisticated words.

That’s the perfect soundtrack for a great movie and also the nicer background you could wish for some daydreaming.

This is definitely my type of music.

Ain’t no other genre matches with my taste like Post-Punk does.

Especially, there are some specific melancholic moments when this music sounds just perfect to you, like when you’re in a Summer sadness mood.

That’s why I think: if you’re stuck in the city for work and you can’t go on holiday, that’s the music you should listen to.

Another lovely Joy Division Summer Postcard [Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division]

First, a short recap:

Post-Punk was born in the Seventies in the UK.

Its first bunch was composed of artists the likes of Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Psychedelic Furs.

It was only in the early Eighties that this new music style received a global recognition and began to be called as we know it.

Post-Punk took off definitively with The Cure, The Smiths and Depeche Mode.

Than It finally landed on US radios, with Talking Heads and Police.

In the 80s, Pop music swept in with its usual cannibalistic attitude and embezzled this culture.

The last thing to say is that another great genre came to life directly from Post-Punk, which is New Wave.

Joy Division State of Mind

How a band became a synonym of a depressed attitude.

Post-Punk and New Wave hypnotic melodies are perfect to create a unique atmosphere.

In particular, Joy Division music arouses a sentiment of sweet melancholy like no other.

Every time I put my earphones on and Spotify goes with a Joy Division‘s song I start traveling with my mind.

Suddenly, I feel like I’m a mysterious charming girl, hanging around in a desert suburb of Manchester with an austere outfit and a depressed attitude.

This is just amazing.

In Italy, we also have a community on Facebook all about this tendency.

I see Joy Division people” That’s the name of the Facebook group.

(instead of I see dead people” from The Sixth Sense)
